Butterflies and Moths

Butterflies may be among a small number of creatures apparently not having any mythological and religious significance. Still, they were quite often represented in hunting and fishing scenes, apparently for their beauty's sake. The most frequently shown is a large monarch species, Danaus chrysippus.
There was jewellery using butterfly motifs. Silver bracelets with semi-precious stone inlays in butterfly patterns were found in the tomb of queen Hetepheres.
